



Worst of them is definetly the slingers, their range is pretty useless since they need direct line of sight to fire, this means that unless you are playing in a flatish kinda map with no obsticles they are going to have to get close to actually shoot at the enemy, and if you are going to get close you may as well use javlins. What I use them for is screening the main battle line and then once the main fight is on then I use them either to fire over the legionaries or to flank the enemy and hit them from behind or flanks. Why? Well because of the sheer firepower, other skirmishers might have more range but they lack the firepower to do any real damage before they run out of ammo.Īlso the range thing isn't that important, they have shields and move very quickly so the only thing you have to worry about is being cornered (cities are bad for this) or cavalry. Whilst they are all good for certain things (like u/Davidshky mentioned) I'm playing as rome and I find the javlins to be the best. Think we missed one?
